Probate
When someone dies leaving possessions or property worth £5,000 or more, legal processes known as probate and estate administration must be carried out and are required regardless of whether there is a Will or not. Many people are unaware the limit is so low and that probate is required regardless of whether there is a Will or not.
Unless everything is handled properly, any money or possessions of the deceased cannot be released to you or other beneficiaries. The Government requires tax forms to be completed and those dealing with the affairs are liable for any errors.
Personal Touch can refer you to specialists in order to establish whether Probate is required and give you the advice you need.
